Betty Mansion

A Belgian dancer and choreographer, Betty is renowned for her atypical style, which blends several dance disciplines. After training in hip-hop in Belgium, she drew on jazz, classical, contemporary and musical theatre influences. Her 2022 creation “OH SUMMER” is a blend of urban dance with a touch of humour that has toured Belgium and France. Her new creation is inspired by it, exploring the notion of beauty and breaking codes with sensitivity and authenticity.

Névroses Banales
Névroses Banales

Four friends. A daily life precariously balanced between musical comedy, existential crisis and emotional gymnastics. As soon as the music starts, everything changes: the choreography erupts into a joyfully crazy ballet, and what seemed ordinary reveals its absurdity.
Beneath their normal appearances, these characters each carry their own share of anxieties, neuroses and repressed emotions. But here, there is no question of hiding them: they are exposed, displayed and shared. In a minimalist set design – four wooden cubes that become, in turn, refuges, obstacles or springboards – the performers explore the flaws of everyday life with sensitivity and humour. The audience becomes the fifth friend of this group, a complicit witness to an intimacy where the fourth wall constantly wavers. Between dance, laughter and moments of vertigo, ‘Névroses Banales’ celebrates the little follies that inhabit us all, transforming our fragilities into living, light and deeply human material. A show that does us good by looking our neuroses in the face – and in music.
