Armonia
Armonia is a therapeutic dance solo in which Viola Chiarini yields to the spontaneity of Waacking to express her emotions and free her body. It is an introspective creation to wake up from an emotional coma and make vulnerability an acceptable feeling in society. It is inspired by the traditional Italian dance Tarantella and the rite of Tarantismo, a healing rite that uses music and dance.
Furiosa
With Furiosa, Viola Chiarini presents a second powerful creation, driven by rebellion and feminine strength. Inspired by the myth of Medea, this socially conscious piece transforms the stage into a cry of resistance against social violence and invisible oppression.
Based on waacking, a dance form born out of the LGBTQIA+ community and a vehicle for emancipation, Furiosa reveals its full expressive and political power. In an intense trio, Viola Chiarini explores the anger born of systemic, brutal or manifest oppression towards everything that embodies or asserts femininity. Drawing on her experience in dance therapy, she composes a work in which each movement becomes an act of survival, affirmation and liberation, celebrating the feminine in its various forms. Raw, sincere and contemporary, Furiosa resonates as a choreographic manifesto for the dignity and place of women, female bodies, queer and dissident people in our contemporary societies.
