GET DOWN : A new dynamic to grow and evolve together
For the past five years, Get Down has been building with passion and commitment, accompanying artists on their journey. Today, we’re taking a moment to clarify how we operate and share our ambitions for the future. 2024 has been a pivotal year, both for the team and on a personal level, but today we’re ready to grow and evolve together.
An optimized organization
We are in the process of adapting our working methods and our team, and introducing more efficient tools. We are updating Get Down with the help of several external consultants, notably in financial management. The aim is to automate certain tasks and gain a clearer view of our finances to support business development, while structuring our approach with a productivity audit and the implementation of efficient processes. We are also working on the strategy and action plan for our social networks. Taken together, these initiatives will enable us to guarantee artists greater visibility and long-term development. These developments help us to refine our vision and offer ever more relevant support.
Who are the artists we support ?
Get Down accompanies artists who have talent, commitment and professionalism, and we play the role of co-pilot (not driver) in their artistic projects, advising and coaching them as best we can. Being an artist also means being an entrepreneur, and we’re here to support them in this adventure. Above all, we’re looking for personalities who embody strong human values and who are fully committed to their artistic endeavors. Today, the majority of the artists we support are women, a choice that reflects our desire to offer them greater visibility and recognition on the national and international artistic scenes.
Two accompaniment formats : MOVE and STEP
Get Down has devised two support formats. The first is MOVE (Makers of Vision and Expression), which involves accompanying our artists over a period of at least one year. We work with artists such as Lila Magnin, Briana Ashley Stuart, Hendrickx Ntela and Justine Theizen on projects lasting one cultural season or one year. This format enables them to structure their careers and grow together. Our second format is STEP (Sustaining Talent and Potential). This involves more one-off projects lasting from a few weeks to a few months, with artists such as Anna Karenina Lambrecht, Oumar Diallo and the Freestyle Lab association. This format provides greater flexibility and responsiveness, while leaving the door open to a move towards MOVE support.
We’ve designed this approach to allow artists to evolve freely, experiment and find their own way, while remaining benevolent.
We use these two dynamic formats to welcome new projects while leaving the door open for those who are evolving towards new horizons.
An evolving team
The Get Down team continues to grow and evolve, moving and changing. Today, our team is made up of Ana, who provides administrative support and tour coordination as a cultural management student. Estelle, who has just started her internship, contributes to production, accompanies artists and helps with communications. Finally, Flora, a freelance production photographer, works with us on several projects. In particular, on the production of the “RDV Get Down” event in February 2023. Flora will also be supporting Justine Theizen’s POV production, as well as other one-off projects. With Camille, a relationship of trust has been established, with a willingness to move towards a similar vision, taking into account each other’s complementary skills.
We’d also like to thank Amanthe, our very first employee, whose contract expired at the end of 2024. We’ll be in touch, however, and wish her every success as she continues her adventures as Jacques Franck’s programmer.
Our services: acting as co-pilot and intermediary
Get Down acts as a link between artists, venues and cultural structures. We rely on four essential pillars to support and promote artists. Firstly, production, by helping them set up and carry out their tours and artistic projects. We also take care of distribution, promoting their creations in Belgium and internationally. We also play the role of artistic accompaniment and management, helping them to structure their careers and move forward. Finally, we take care of promotion and press work, highlighting their work and their world to a wider audience.
Our values and ambitions
Get Down is founded on the principles of authenticity, transparency and openness, while maintaining a balance between professional and personal life. We want to innovate, go further, do better without necessarily doing more. All the while optimizing our currently limited financial resources. Finally, our mission remains the same : to share the messages and values of artists through movement, street dance and clubbing, to encourage a diversity of perspectives and nurture a space for exchange and creation.
What’s next ?
We’ve got lots of projects on the go! These include the development of new training modules on dance distribution and production. As well as tools such as a podcast on our professions and skills. We also benefit from the support of the Brussels Federation via a service contract for 2024-2026, an invaluable support in realizing our ambitions, while seeking to optimize our currently limited financial resources.
This article marks a first step in this new phase of development. In the months to come, we will be delving deeper into every aspect of our work to offer an even clearer vision of our commitment.
Stay tuned, the Get Down adventure continues with ever more projects, collaborations and inspiration !
